Recall that on November 24, 2018, the monument "Candle of Memory" was unveiled on the occasion of the Day of commemoration of the Holodomor victims on Nezalezhnist embankment near the medical faculty of UzhNU.
The installation of this monument caused a lively discussion among Uzhgorod residents regarding the artistic expression of the idea and the appropriateness of the place to honor the victims of the Holodomor.
The scientific and artistic council at the executive committee of the Uzhgorod City Council, having considered the request of 268 Uzhgorod citizens who signed the online petition, suggested to choose another place for the monument to the victims of the Holodomor and put out this issue for public discussion.
