Uzh is almost out of the banks. Rescuers say – nothing extraordinary

The Uzh within the city limits has risen by at least 1.5 meters. As reported by the State Emergencies Service in Transcarpathian region, the increase of water on Transcarpathian rivers is not critical.

They inform:

At night, January 12, in Transcarpathian region, in the mountains of western and central parts, there were heavy, sometimes very heavy rains of 20-43 mm, in the rest region – of 4-15 mm. As of 03:00. the intensity of the rains decreased significantly, in the upper reaches of rivers of western and central parts, the maximum water levels begin to form.

Predicted maximum levels above zero of gauges:

 – the Uzh – the city of Uzhgorod – 80 – 130 cm in afternoon on January 12, breakout of water onto the floodplain, flooding of the children’s railway (the level at 08:00 11.01.16 – 123 cm);

 – the Latorica – the city of Mukachevo – 420 – 470 cm in afternoon on January 12, breakout of water onto the floodplain, (the level at 08:00 11.01.16 – 261 cm);

 – the Rika – the city of Khust – 390 – 450 cm in afternoon on January 12 (the level at 08:00 11.01.16 – 270 cm)

 – the Borzhava – the village of  V.Remety – 580 – 630 cm at night on 12 – 13 of January (the level at 08:00 11.01.16 – 558 cm), possible flooding of agricultural land in villages of Zarichchya, Siltse, Lukovo, Bilky, Khmilnyk, Kamyanske, the road Vynogradiv – Shalanky;

 – the Stara – the village of Znyatsovo – 400 – 450 cm on January 13, breakout of water onto the floodplain (the level at 08:00 11.01.16 – 306 cm).

 In the lower reaches of the Latorytsia, on 12 – 13 of January, the water level is expected to increase by 3.0 – 4.0 meters with breakout of water onto the floodplain.

On the rest of the rivers and on the Tisa, between Rakhiv and Khust, on January 12, water levels are expected to increase (above the level at 08:00 on January 11) by 1.0-1.5 m.

However, citizens complain about flooding of agricultural land and considerable rise of water in major rivers.

Uzhgorod residents say that they have not seen such a high water in the Uzh for a long time and share photos.
