According to preliminary information, the problem is that the demand for tickets exceeded the offer. And the reason is that for the last 25 years not enough attention has been paid to passenger traffic, the Mukachevo.net informed.
According to the head of the long distance passenger transportation department of the "Ukrzaliznytsya" Oleksandr Krasnoshtan, all the available carriages for the transportation of people have been employed.
Krasnoshtan explained that because of non-compliance with the law, the prices of tickets are set lower than the cost, and the difference should be reimbursed from the state budget.
Because of this, tickets are too cheap, and the demand for them exceeds the offer.
The "Ukrzaliznytsya" complains that passenger transportation is unprofitable: UAH 6.4 billion of loss vs UAH 0.6 billion of income, only because of international trasportation.
