Ukrainians start to drink in childhood, and become alcoholics before 30

Ukrainians start drinking before the age of 13.

Sociologists have conducted a series of surveys among young people, which gave terrible results: 85% of children have confirmed that they tried some strong drinks at least once, as it is said in the TSN story.76% of young Ukrainians said they drink more than once per year.

"Among them 77 are boys and 74 are girls. Girls also keep up with the boys, beer is the most popular drink among young men while girls prefer mostly soft drinks,"- said the director of the Yaremenko Institute of Social Studies of Ukraine Tetiana Bondar.

Despite the ban on selling alcohol to minors, 70% of the teens surveyed said they were free to buy it in many kiosks and shops.Psychologists are convinced that alcoholism is modified: now the dependence is burden with mental disorders, which cannot be cured without professional support.

Victoria Osipova, the therapeutic programme leader, confirms that the age of her patients has much decreased and now the cases when 16-year-old alcoholics are brought to the center are not rare. Up to 30 the alcohol dependence of Ukrainians becomes chronic, some of them experienced alcoholic mania and require long-term rehabilitation.Experts believe that children take strong drinks due to lack of parents’ attention or just for fun. The main task of doctors is to help children to find new priorities in life and see the world as a sober-minded man.
