Ukraine could save 500 million hryvnias if presidential elections were held in one round.
This was announced by the Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak, during a conference call chaired by the Prime Minister, as quoted by his press service.
He said, "The election and defense are funded without delays.”
"Once the State Treasury receives vouchers, the money are paid immediately and in full," – the Minister said.
"There is a little delay in submission of payment instruments by election commissions, so I ask election commission to submit payment instruments to the State Treasury as soon as they are ready, without delay. As of today, the financing in amount of 220 million hryvnias is provided, and cash expenditures, made fully under the payment documents, amount to only 73 million hryvnias" – Shlapak said.
In addition, he said that the State Budget of Ukraine for 2014 provides for expenditures for the Central Election Commission as the main budget funds administrator under the "Election of the President of Ukraine" program in the amount of 1,174.98 million hryvnias.
According to preliminary calculations of the CEC, if the presidential election in Ukraine is held in one round, the state budget savings will be about 500 million hryvnias.
Financing of local elections, according to the Ministry of Finance, is carried out in full and as of today amounts to 96.4 percent of the plan for April-May.
