Two Romanian drivers lost their trucks on the border because of hidden cigarettes

Two Romanian drivers failed in smuggling tobacco products hidden in the trucks by using custom post ‘Diakove’. The temptation to profit from the resale of cigarettes abroad – ended for foreigners by drawing the protocols on violation of customs regulations. Hiding from the customs control 65 blocks of cigarettes violators lost on the Ukrainian-Romanian border their trucks, worth 260 000 hryvnia, and they will pay a fine for violation of customs legislation.

Romanian drivers arrived in the area of international of customs control checkpoint ‘Diakove’ on trucks ‘MAN’ late at night. During the customs examination of saddle compartment of cabs, customs officers discovered 250 packs of cigarettes brand ‘JIN LING’ without the excise duty stamps in the first case. Hidden cigarettes were in the perforated space of cab’s decorative covering. Access to them was made possible after the dismantling of the lower mounting of the covering. In the second truck cigarettes were also hidden in the cab. 130 packs of cigarettes brands ‘Pall Mall FAMOUS SUPERSLIMS’, 20 packs of ‘Pall Mall FAMOUS AMERICAN BLEND’ of national production and 250 packs of ‘JIN LING’ without the excise duty stamps Ukrainian Chop inspectors revealed in the perforated space behind the back decorative covering of the cab.

Both foreigners admitted hidden tobacco products as their properties. On the basis of Article 483 Part 1 of the Customs Code of Ukraine the protocols were drawn. After the court decision perpetrators must pay a penalty of 100% from the value of hidden product, which will be confiscated – said Victoria Senhetovska, press secretary of Chop customs.
