Transcarpathians, despite the crisis, still spend vacations abroad

To find out how the situation in the country has influenced Transcarpathians’ vacation habbits, uzhgorod.in contacted Khristina Doktor, the director of the travel agency "Trident-Hit Uzhgorod".

According to Ms. Khristina, difficult economic and social situation in the country, especially the exchange rate, had almost no effect on Transcarpathians’ willingness and ability to spend vacations abroad. This is because a large number of the inhabitants of the region work abroad and receive income in foreign currency, therefore 100-200 euros for a New Year’s tour, or 300-350 dollars for a beach vacation is not an exorbitant price for them.

As for the geography of vacations, inhabitants of Transcarpathia prefer traditional destinations: Egypt and Europe (mainly Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Austria, less often Paris and Amsterdam). But there are also fans of exotic, preferring the Maldives.

The high demand is evidenced by the following information: as of today, the travel agency has only 9 available vouchers for New Year’s tours departing from Lviv and not many more for those departing from Kyiv.

As noted by Ms. Khristina, the main feature of this tourist season is journeys by travelers’ own transport. In this case, the travel company provides visa services (if needed), as well as helps with the preparation of itinerary and hotel booking.
