On March 20, the rescue service of Transcarpathia received a report of a burning dry grass and bushes in the territory of Perechyn forestry between the villages of Turychky and Vilshanka in Perechyn district. Since the fire broke out near the road, it was noticed by the driver of a car driving by the scene.
A squad of the 1st State Fire and Rescue Unit was immediately sent to eliminate the fire – in total 1 vehicle and 6 personnel members. Together, they completely eliminated the fire. The flames had destroyed dry grass and bushes on the area of 1.5 hectares.
In just the past three days, in various parts of Transcarpathia, in addition to the above-described case, 12 fires in ecosystems have occurred. In addition, one person was injured as a result of burning of garbage. On March 18, a 71-year-old inhabitant of Volovets, who was burning garbage on his land, was admitted to the intensive care unit of Volovets Central District Hospital. Because of his negligence, the man sufferred II-III degree burns of lower extremities.
In this regard, the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine Office in Transcarpathian region appeals to citizens to prevent the risk of fire in ecosystems. To do this, be extremely careful in handling open fire, do not leave the fire unattended, do not start fire near houses and estates, and never burn grass clippings, shrubs or garbage and do not let kids do that. Remember that only the observance of these rules will prevent fire.
