October 11th, at 18:20, the rescue service of Transcarpathia was reported that near the Mt. Goverla in Rakhiv district, three students from the city of Khmelnytsky had gotten lost. As it turned out, a 15-year-old boy and girls born in 1999 and 2000 went to conquer mountain slopes in a group of 15 people.
Students with a teacher and an instructor left the city of Yaremche, Ivano-Frankivsk region and headed toward the Mt. Goverla. On the mountain, due to the adverse weather conditions (fog and sleet), the group lost orientation and split. Nine people returned to the place of gathering at the sporting facilities "Zaroslyak." Three ended up on the Kozmeska meadow, where they were found by Ivano-Frankivsk rescuers. The other three children got lost and ended up in the Tykhovets tract.
Officers of the mountain search and rescue division of the village of Lazeshchyna immediately began the search for the students. At 20:00, the tourists found in the Tykhovets tract, near the Mt. Goverla in Rakhiv district. Since the children did not need medical care, rescuers took them to the railway station in the village of Lazeshchyna where they boarded a diesel train Rakhiv-Kolomyia.
