An extraordinary session of the regional council was held in Uzhgorod. Initially, 64 the 108 regional deputies registered, which was enough to open the session. Later that number increased. The key issue that was considered was the immediate rescue of the 128th brigade.
First, Transcarpathian Military Commissar Ivan Vasyltsyun informed the latest news from the front.
"Unlike yesterday, now we have a connection with the commander of the 128th Brigade. At night, our units were ordered to retreat to a safe place to save the personnel. Currently, the exact number of killed soldiers is unknown. The 128th Brigade is not the only one fighting there, so reports of death may not refer to Transcarpathians. At 18.00, we will have more accurate information," – Ivan Vasyltsyun said.
"Today, the President personally assured that he would do everything possible to bring our troops from Debaltseve alive," – the head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal said.
The head of the region confirmed that the Ukrainian troops, including the 128th Brigade, began withdrawal from Debaltseve. "The commander of the 128th Mountain Infantry Brigade Serhiy Shaptala assumed full responsibility for the lives of our soldiers. By phone he promised me that he would be the last to leave Debaltseve and only when he is satisfied that all the soldiers have left the surrounded area," – Vasyl Hubal said. A little later he added 1700 that Transcarpathians serve in the 128th Brigade in the ATO area.
Also the head of the RSA told about the course of mobilization in Transcarpathia.
"More than 300 Transcarpathians have undergone training and almost all of them personally gave consent to be mobilized. No one was forced. 77 of them came as volunteers. I think this is a manifestation of patriotism because people do it consciously," – Mr. Hubal said.
After a brief discussion, the regional deputies decided to appeal to the President with the request to protect Transcarpathian soldiers. 70 deputies voted for this decision of the regional council.
Also at the extraordinary session of the Transcarpathian Regional Council, it was informed that Uzhgorod city council would allocate from the city budget 1 million for restoration of the technical means for the 128th Brigade and 2 million hryvnia to families of those killed and wounded in the ATO.
