Two men detained in the capital with 6.5 kg of explosives and ammunition have been notified of being suspected of illegally acquiring and storing firearms. This was announced on Monday by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, – the Ukrains’ka Pravda reported.
"Currently, the detained persons, who are natives of Transcarpathian region born in 1990 and 1991, have been notified of being suspected under Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal use of weapons, ammunition or explosives).
It was also reported that a request for imposition of a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention had been sent to the court.
"At present, the pre-trial investigation continues, the factual circumstances and motives of the criminal offense are being established," – law enforcement officers summed up.
As you know, on November 12, 2017, in the parking lot near a shopping center in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained two young men, and found in their car five blocks of a plastic substance and 10 items similar to detonators.
According to experts’ findings, the seized items were identified as hexogen-based explosive substance with a total weight of 6.5 kg, as well as electrical detonators, which are ammunition.
One of the versions in this case is preparation for a terrorist attack.
The participants of the protest rally near the Verkhovna Rada on November 13 issued a statement saying that the Transcarpathians detained with explosives had been previously expelled from their camp.
