Transcarpathian officials will spend 15,000 on gifts for children

In Transcarpathia, the regional plan of actions to implement the 2013 national program "National Action Plan to Implement the UNO Convention" was approved. It is planned to allocate nearly three million hryvnias from the regional treasury. Only a small portion of the funds is be spent to actually protect children, the rest is for festivals, competitions, Christmas celebration. Thus, most of the money – 2.2 million – will be spent to "conduct health education work to inform the public about ways to prevent diseases" and to "conduct trainings for doctors and nursing staff to share the experience of "Youth-friendly clinics" centers. 80,000 UAH will be spent to "improve the aesthetic and patriotic upbringing of children", 35,000 UAH will go to the regional police and the service for children to "conduct preventive measures",

"Christmas and New Year holidays to ensure social and legal protection of children." The regional budget provides for 15,000 UAH for the gifts for kids from officials to the International Children’s Day. No money are allocated for such measures, as training of candidates for foster parents and improvement of the conditions of children in institutions of social protection and provision of rehabilitation services for children with disabilities,.

District state administrations and city executive committees are recommended to also develop and approve the plan within one month and to finance the activities from local budgets. Officials will be reporting on implementation of the "National Action Plan to Implement the UNO Convention" by December 28, 2014.
