Transcarpathian gypsy kids will be taught by the program of the professor of Harvard University

In late February, in the village of Serednye, they will introduce for Roma children the program that has been successfully used in private schools – "Life in our hands". More than a hundred children, pupils of the "School of life" in Transcarpathia will be be studying through innovative methods, developed on the basis of the theory of American psychologist, Harvard professor and author of the "multiple intelligence" concept. Children aged two to ten will be studying a number of subjects by completely unconventional methods.

Learning at the lessons of "Life in our hands" is aimed at addressing the basic areas of child development, such as:

– Balanced development of logic and creative abilities;

– Learning a foreign language through immersion;

– The development of language skills and ability to communicate;

– Emphasis on critical thinking;

   

For the third year, the team of the "Emmanuyil" Association has been working with Gypsy families of Transcarpathia. The "School of Life" project, within which the new program for children launches, provides individual attention to each child. The main objective of the project is to help children become a full part of society, believe in themselves, feel their importance, be prepared for adult life and learn some skills to be needed in the labor market. The basic program of the "School of Life" includes the classes in Ukrainian language, writing, mathematics, drawing, lessons of independence.

Also, in December 2012, they launched the charitable initiative "Warm a child." The collected money was used to purchase more than six pairs of winter shoes for poor and large families of Transcarpathia.
