Transcarpathian Gulliver. The tallest man of the region lives in Rakhiv district

Passing the mountain village of Velyky Bychkiv in Rakhiv district, I accidentally saw Vasyl Kravchuk, who was walking in a winter park, located on both sides of the road. It was actually impossible not to notice the man, as he is over two meters tall. I knew from the stories of my colleagues that Mr. Vasyl is reluctant to meet with journalists. But I was lucky – the man was in good spirit and agreed to talk a little bit …

Vasyl Kravchuk admits that he does not like to talk about his life and to be in crowded places because he does not like extra attention and fame. However, once he participated in the festival "Hutsulska brynza."

The giant is 2 meters 13 centimeters tall. His unusual stature was noticed back in childhood year, because the boy was always the tallest in class. At the age of 20, he stopped growing thanks to special drugs. This summer, Vasyl will turn 39. And he says that gigantic stature brings him more trouble than good.

"You know, even though I receive state aid, I have to work because that scarce funds are not enough to make a living. I often take advantage of make height: since I work in construction, I can whitewash the ceiling, without standing on a ladder. This saves time and, therefore, money – says Mr. Vasyl. – However, to find clothes and shoes of the right size for me is a problem. In big cities there are special stores where one can buy such outfit, but not here."

Vasyl Kravchuk said that besides Ukrainian, he speaks Hungarian and German. His passion is intellectual games. Last year, solving crosswords, he even won one of the contests. Once he sent a question to the intellectual game show.      And in his spare time he goes on fishing and hunting.

The man confesses that he is used to a quiet life, because family comfort is the most important thing for him. Now he lives with his mother, but dreams of his own family: a wife and children.

"My dream may come true soon. Because I have a fiance – Vasyl Kravchuk says. – Her name is Alina. Originally she is from Velyky Bychkiv, but have long been living in Berdyansk. The only thing is that she does not want to return to the village, and I can not leave it, because I can not imagine my life elsewhere."
Nowadays, the tallest man in Transcarpathia often walks the streets alone with his thoughts, but hopes that it will not last long …
