In Uzhgorod Press Club, there was a press conference of Transcarpathian "cyborgs", soldiers of the 80th airborne brigade of paratroopers Mykola Mynio and Roman Trubin who participated in the fighting at the Donetsk airport. A few days ago, the soldiers returned from Budapest, where, thanks to the project for rehabilitation of the combatants in the east of Ukraine "Give warmth to a hero" they had taken a rest from the war and had interesting meetings. Soon, they are going back to the East.
The project for the rehabilitation of soldiers is implemented by the NGO "European Uzhgorod" (Chairman Istvan Tsap) together with the State Self-Government of Ukrainians in Hungary (chairman Yaroslava Khortyani). According to Istvan Tsap, Uzhgorod is actively cooperating with the Ukrainian diaspora in Hungary.
He also said that now they are preparing documents to send another group, also paratroopers, who survived the hell of Ilovaisk, spent a month and a half in captivity. "Our project will be long-lasting. Unfortunately, the state authorities do not always have time to deal with such issues. So, concerned people, activists, volunteers make their contributions – Istvan Tsap said. – The attitude towards the conflict in the east of Ukraine is still not univocal. Therefore, through the project, we perform two tasks: help soldiers and tell the truth about the war."
Transcarpathian "cyborgs" told how they had defended the Donetsk airport.
The soldiers also told about the conditions they lived in at the airport. 8 people would sleep in a room measuring 2m to 2.5m. They would heat it with a stove, eat army field rations, we had water. At that time, the cold would reach -27 degrees. But, according to the "cyborgs", nobody caught cold and got sick.
With a special warmth, the Transcarpathians were remembering their colleagues, many of whom had died. In particular, a 26-year-old doctor who was saving lives under fire.
The Transcarpathians say that the Ukrainian army is becoming more or less capable. Special thanks to the volunteers. Soon, the men will go back to the East. Roman, this time, as a volunteer. They say that while resting in Hungary they completely shut off those events. "We shut them off completely, we had psychological and physical rehabilitation. We were even flying in a glider. We had a great experince," – Mykola Mynio says. "Probably, there, in the East, they will not even believe me" – he jokes.
Recall that the head of the Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal nominates the Transcarpathian "cyborgs" for state awards.
