Transcarpathian customs officers seized psychotropic substances

Experts of the Transcarpathian customs office seized 40 pills of drugs "Control 2,5 mg" from a citizen of Ukraine, who was traveling from Italy to Ukraine by a cargo minibus "Mercedes-Benz 312". This citizen did not listed the medicines in the customs declaration and did not mention about it during oral survey. The drug contains the active substance "lorazepam".

The customs officers found the "Control 2,5 mg" in one of the cardboard boxes that were in the cargo compartment of the vehicle. The access to the medicines was not obstructed.

"Lorazepam" is a psychotropic substance, its circulation and movement across the customs border of Ukraine is restricted. The drug can be carried across the border provided it was purchased under doctor’s prescription and a citizen has a prescription issued by a health care institution.

At the moment of crossing the customs border of Ukraine, the citizen had no permits for movement of the medicines. Thus, he failed to declare to the customs authority accurate information about items being transported across the customs border that are subject to mandatory declaration and restricted for transportation across the customs border of Ukraine. These actions of the Ukrainian have signs of violation of the customs rules under Article 472 of CCU, and on the basis of Article 511, the goods being the direct objects of violation of customs regulations – medications "Control 2,5 mg" – were seized from him.
