During two days, May 14-15, fierce fights were taking place at the boxing club "Avangard", in the city of Chernivtsi. The first in the history of the known Chernivtsi club "Colosseum-Mashzavod" boxing tournament for the prizes of its founders Eduard and Oleksandr Pogodin was held there. Boxers of different age and weight categories from Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Transcarpathian regions and the Republic of Moldova came there to compete for original diplomas, medals and cups from the organizers and sponsors of the tournament. The team of our region was represented by young "Spartak" members – Oleksandr Levchenko, Maxim Nehrebov, Adalbert Horvath (coach – V Vyshnyov), Anton Ivanov (coach – Oleksander Salakheyev), Milan Pavlyo (coach – A. Kostiv) and Vasyl Shpilka from Khust (coach – M. Kovchar).
As a result, representatives of the regional boxing school won one silver (M. Nehrebov) and four bronze (O. Levchenko, M. Pavlyo, A. Horvath, V. Shpilka) awards. Chernivtsi professionals and fans liked the performance of Transcarpathian team and awarded them an honorary cup.
