Two attempts of cigarette smuggling were stopped this morning by border guards of the Chop detachment. First, during the inspection of a minibus "Mercedes", border guards of the checkpoint "Tisa", together with customs officers, found 474 packs of cigarettes "Rothmans", "Marlboro" and "Winston" totaling 15,834 hryvnia. They were hidden in the ceiling of the luggage compartment of the vehicle.
Within half an hour, at the checkpoint "Uzhgorod", law enforcement officers found 500 packs of cigarettes "Bond" hidden from the border and customs control in doorsteps and doors of a car "Nissan". The seized cigarettes were estimated at nearly 8,300 UAH.
It is worth noting that along with cigarettes, the offenders also lost their vehicles, which caused them damages much more than expected profit. The total value of the confiscated cars is more than 250,000 UAH.
