Transcarpathia has no oxygen concentrators: hospitals of the 2nd and 3rd waves need them the most

unnamed

A significant increase in the number of coronavirus infection cases has been recorded in the region in the last three weeks.

Currently, the region needs oxygen concentrators the most. As of today, 40 such devices are required for second- and third-wave medical facilities.

Oxygen concentrators help patients with complicated forms of COVID-19 – they saturate the body of a sick person with oxygen, depending on the condition – from 1 to 10 liter per minute.

First-wave hospitals are now almost fully provided with such devices which were purchased at the expense of the regional budget. On average, a 10-liter oxygen concentrator costs UAH 40 thousand.

And hospitals of the second and third waves must purchase such devices at their own expense. Currently, not all hospitals have contracted the COVID-19 package and do not have the money to purchase oxygen concentrators.

The regional authorities are asking volunteers and patrons to help with the purchase of oxygen concentrators for second and third wave hospitals.
