Transcarpathia – a snowless island on the map of Ukraine

While all of Ukraine suffers from snowbanks, Transcarpathia is like a resort.  According to the Head of meteorological forecasts department of Transcarpathian Hydrometeorology Center Andriy Zolotaryov, pre-New Year weather will not be much different from that of the previous week, though for a few days it will be quite frosty. 
On Friday, December 21, there will be no substantial rainfall in the region, but occasionally there will be sleet. In the lowlands the daytime temperature will be 0 to -5 ˚ C at night – from 4 to 9 ˚ C below zero. In the highlands forecasters expect -6 to -9 ˚ C during the day, and at nighttime – minus 12 degrees. Andriy Zolotaryov said: the next day, December 22, there will be similar weather, however in the mountains the temperature may drop to -15 ˚ C in the daytime.
December 23, there will be a little snow. In the lowlands forecasters predict during the day -1 to -6 ˚ C, at night – from -3 to -8 ˚ C. In the mountains it will be colder – from -8 to -13 ˚ C during the day, and 10-15 ˚ C below zero at night.
24, 25 and 26 December – no rain, but a moderate frost throughout the region. In the lowlands the temperature range will be from 0 to -5 ˚ C, at night it may drop to -10 ˚ C.  In the highlands forecasters do not expect sudden changes of weather: during the day the temperature here will be from -8 to -13 ˚ C, at night – 10-15 degrees below zero.
And on December 27 frost will retreat. In the lowlands the temperature during the day will increase from -3 to +2 ˚ C, however at night it will drop to -8 ˚ C. In the mountains, weather forecasters predict the temperature from -3 to -8 ˚ C during the day, and -13 ˚ C at night. 
No weather disasters, blizzards or frost are expected in Transcarpathia: "currently the weather in the region is normal, stable and typical for this time of year."
