Tragic hunting

Volovets district police are investigating negligent homicide while hunting 
Investigators of the Volovets Police Department initiated criminal proceedings over infliction of a fatal gunshot wound to a resident of the village of Zhdeniyevo. The incident happened in the Baraky tract while hunting 
Yesterday, October 5, Volovets district police officers received a report from a 46-year-old resident of the village of Zhdeniyevo. The man told that during hunting he had fired from a hunting rifle and hit his friend. 
The policemen found out that the incident had happened in the morning, after 7 o’clock, in the Baraky tract, where the men were picking mushrooms and hunting. Hunting for a roe deer, the 46-year-old man fired one shot, but his friend suddenly ended up on the line of fire. The victim died from the sustained injuries on the way to the hospital in an ambulance. 
At the scene, policemen found the registered hunting rifle. 
Investigators of the Volovets Police Department opened criminal proceedings under Article 119 (1) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Homicide by negligence). The sanction of the article provides for a sentence of restriction of liberty for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same term. 
The investigation continues.
