Tourists from Kyiv were hit by an avalanche in the Carpathians. Rescuers remind that danger remains

Yesterday, January 20, seven tourists from Kyiv, near the Nesamovite Lake on the territory of the Yaremcha city council, were hit by an avalanche.

As a result, they slid down the slope. Fortunately, nobody was injured, the Civil Protection Department reported.

At 19.00, the leader of the group reported to the rescuers that they did not need help, so they continued to go to the "Zaroslyak" camp on their own. At 23.30, the tourists came to the "Zaroslyak".

Also, the rescuers report that the main building of the observatory is currently closed to visitors, during the summer-autumn construction works were carried out there, and it was conserved for winter. However, given that many tourists visit the Pip Ivan Mt., there is a room at the rescue post, where they can stay during bad weather.

Also, on January 20, employees of the Chornohora mountain search and rescue station conducted a compression test to determine the degree of avalanche hazard. As a result of the test, the fourth level of avalanche hazard (High avalanche hazard) was set. As a result of snowfall, the fresh snow cover is 30-50 cm. There was also a snow slide near the Pip Ivan Mt.

So rescuers advise tourists to refrain from hiking in the mountains in the coming days.
