Tourist tax brought over UAH 1 million to the budget of Transcarpathia

For 9 months of 2015, local budgets of Transcarpathian region have received UAH 1 million 26 thousand of tourist tax.

The Main Office of the SFS in Transcarpathian region notes that the tourism industry of Transcarpathia has a great potential and is attractive to investors. It is imperative that funds already received and to be received are used by local councils for the development of individual settlements and the region as a whole. Having developed infrastructure and various attractions, not only tourist flow will be progressively growing, but also local communities will be getting richer.

A tourist arriving in Transcarpathia not only pays the tourist tax, the rate of which is set by decision of village, town and city councils in the amount of 0.5-1% of the price of accommodation (net of VAT), but also buys from Transcarpathian businesses some goods, services, and thus invests in the business and the budget our region.

Recall that the current legislation clearly defines range of tourist tax payers and its limit. According to Art. 268 of the Tax Code, payers of the tourist tax are citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and stateless persons who arrive on the territory of the administrative-territorial unit, where, by the decision of village, town and city council, the tourist tax is set, and receive temporary accommodation services with the obligation leave the accommodation within a specified period.
