Recall that today, 10 passengers traveled to the Hungarian capital of Budapest on the first high-speed train from Mukachevo in Transcarpathia. The Ukrinform reports.
The arrival of the train, which departed in the morning from Mukachevo, is expected in Budapest at 19.37. For now, there will be only one car, and eventually the number will be increased to three.
The first passenger of the train Mukachevo-Budapest was Anna-Sofia Reypeshi
This was stated in the comment to the Ukrinform correspondent by Yaroslav Aftanas, the chairman of the trade union organization of the Lviv railway.
"The train Mukachevo-Budapest departed for the first time from Mukachevo today at 12.30. For now, there will be one car – it’s still in test mode to see the demand. Today, 10 passengers took the first train from Mukachevo," – Aftanas said.
According to him, if in a few weeks they see that there is a stable demand for this train, the railway company will add one or two more cars.
"The Hungarian colleagues also plan to increase the number of cars to three, which is about 200 passengers daily," – Aftanas said.
The train will be running according to the same timetable as today: it will depart at 12.30 from Mukachevo and will arrive in Budapest at 19.37. In the opposite direction, the train will be moving as follows: departure from Budapest at 8.23 (7.23 European time), and arrival to Mukachevo at 15.25 Kyiv time. The price of tickets, respectively, is 680 hryvnias and 20.9 euros. You can buy tickets at the ticket offices of train stations in Mukachevo and Chop.
According to Aftanas, passengers noted that it is more cost effective than taking a bus.
For now, the train arrives to the additional platform at the railway station in Mukachevo – it is 500 m away from the main one. In order to help people find their way, there are signs at the station, which point in the right direction.
Over time, according to Aftanas, it is planned that the high-speed train Mukachevo-Budapest will be arriving to the main platform – to this end, railwaymen need to build a narrow-gauge track (as the train runs on the narrow-gauge railway) to the first platform of the Mukachevo railway station.
According to the Ukrinform, the intercity train Mukachevo-Budapest called "Latorytsia" was officially launched on December 9.
