Today representatives of the Department of Health of the Transarpathian RSA visited the patients being treated in the infection disease department of Khust District Hospital. Recall that 13 children – students of the secondary school in the village of Nyzhnye Selyshche in Khust district – and a teacher of the same school were taken to the medical institution due to the outbreak of intestinal infection.
Preliminarily, they were diagnosed with acute enterocolitis, further examination continues. At present, the condition of all patients is satisfactory. Some children are in the hospital be themselves, others are accompanied by their mothers.
The children are provided with fluid therapy and antibiotics, they have been examined and treated according to protocols.
According to the letter of the Transcarpathian Regional Laboratory Center of the MoH of Ukraine, the Department of Health was informed that in three children acute enterocolitis was caused by the dysentery bacillus. For the rest of the children, examinations continue.
The causative agent and transmission factors of the disease are to be established. Epidemiological analysis continues.
