There will be no more fixed rate of the hryvnia, get used to it – head of the National Bank

Ukraine needs to get used to the fact that it will no longer live at fixed rate.

The head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva said that in an interview to the "TSN.Tyzhden".

"Our country will no longer live at fixed rate. Unfortunately, it has always lived  like that – she said. – It will not bring our country growth and stability of the financial system. This is what we said back in April, when we signed the program with the IMF. Our country said that we would have a flexible exchange rate now."

She also reported that the National Bank is looking for a "balanced level" for the hryvnia.

"With the current state of the market… the hryvnia should be at 12,5-13. The rate must not rise above it" – she said.
