There is no epidemics of influenza in Transcarpathia

According to experts of the Transcarpathian regional laboratory center of the State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Ukraine, as of February 7, 2013, ARI incidence rate is 37.6 per 10 thousand people, does not exceed the epidemic threshold (66.5) and is typical for this time of year.

On the 6th week, the epidemic situation remained calm. According to the analysis of data of medical institutions of the region, this week 4634 people have fallen ill, 64.3% (2979 patients) of which are children under 17 years. Such incidence corresponds to the incidence in recent non-epidemic years and demonstrates a stable and controlled development of epidemic process.

The regional virology laboratory conducts regular monitoring of circulating pathogens of respiratory viral infections. As of 11.02.2013, the analysis by molecular genetic method confirmed seven cases of A (H1N1) pandemic variety of influenza. By the express-method it was confirmed two positive cases of A (H1N1) seasonal influenza.

The issue of monitoring the progress of the epidemic situation is under constant control of the regional Sanitary and Epidemiological Service.

In the regional infectious diseases hospital two adult patients with A (seasonal) influenza are being treated. Patient’s health condition is satisfactory.

Also no cases of (H1N1) pandemic influenza (or so-called "swine flu") have been recorded in the region, which would cause complications and be dangerous to human life.

The information, spread on some sites, about the "serious condition of patients", which is allegedly caused by the pandemicvirus A (H1N1), is untrue.
