The steepest climb in the city on the Uzh is the Castle Stairs
In the historic center of Uzhgorod – on the Castle Hill, which was once the “heart” of the city – there is a hidden, secluded but very special place – the Castle Stairs. They connect two streets, Pidhradska and Kapitulna, where Uzhgorod Castle is located. Kapitulna street is the oldest street in Uzhgorod. At one time it was called Castle street. The Castle Stairs were built in the XVIII-XIX centuries. They were used by local residents to descend from Castle Hill. It has always been a secluded and cozy spot that was considered to be the most romantic corner in the city center, which was even called the "kissing stairs." Source.
96 stairs have recently been renovated and now walking up and down the castle stairs is a real pleasure.
