On Monday, April 29, under the chairmanship of the first deputy head of the regional administration Igor Svyshcho, there was a meeting of the regional committee on anthropogenic and environmental safety and emergency situations.
Firstly, the participants of the meeting discussed issues of preparation for the swimming season and ensuring safety on water bodies of the region. According the Deputy Head of the Department of Emergency Response of the State Emergencies Service Office in Transcarpathian Hleb Burkovsky, last year in Transcarpathia 37 people died in the water. In 2013, five deaths have already been recorded.
Most deaths on the water are usually recorded from May to September. In the region there are 26 holiday spots near the water. 8 of them have already been audited. The provision of rescue posts remains unsatisfactory. So far, only 4 sites are equipped with them. Therefore, the Commission decided to instruct district administrations, executive committees and the office of MIA to ensure patrolling of the coasts during the bathing season. Rescuers were also instructed to carry out a thorough inspection of places of mass recreation.
