On April 30, in the Uzhgorod University Media Center, there was a round table devoted to the 95th anniversary of the oldest newspaper in the region – "Zakarpatska Pravda." The meeting brought together media workers of different generations, who have worked in the newspaper, teachers of journalism, the Media Center staff, which, in fact, initiated this event.
As noted by Professor Serhiy Fedaka: "Zakarpatka" has the longest history among all publications in the region. Each stage of development is interesting. Generally, the history of Transcarpathian print journalism of the twentieth century is primarily the history of "Zakarpatka" because everything was spinning around it: it trained journalists, who later would work in other newspapers. In 5 years, this newspaper will be 100 years old – a landmark date which we must prepare for."
During the meeting, it was stressed that "Zakarpatska Pravda" is the first newspaper of the region that was published in modern Ukrainian literary language, and the only regional publication in Ukraine which came out 6 times a week.
People, who have received their first journalism esperience with the "Zakarpatska Pravda", are the assistant professor of the journalism department and the editor in chief of the newspaper "Pohlyad" Volodymyr Tarasyuk, journalist, the editor of the online edition "Chas Zakarpattya", the winner of the Mykhailo Babydorych Prize Yaroslav Svitlyk, an employee of the Tisa 1 RSTRBC, radio journalist Yuliana Demchuk…
