During the working visit to Transcarpathia, the Vice-Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine Ivanna Klimpush-Tsintsadze visited the international automobile check point "Uzhgorod", where one year ago the symbolic "door" to Europe was opened.

During the meeting with the leadership of the Transcarpathian Regional Administration, the Western Regional Department of the SBGS, the Chop Border Guard Detachment and the State Fiscal Service, they raised a number of important issues related to the border customs operations and cross-border traffic. In particular, they discussed the possibilities of building an infrastructure at the cargo terminal, which would create considerably more comfortable conditions for international carriers. Border guards and customs officers drew Mrs. Klimpush-Tsintsadze’s attention to the urgent need to accelerate the reconstruction of the crossing point and to restore the pedestrian lane that would relieve the vehicular passenger traffic.

During the visit, the Vice Prime Minister had the opportunity to talk with the participants of the international traffic and hear their opinion on the procedure for passing border-customs formalities and timing of control operations.

At the end of the visit to the largest Ukrainian-Slovak border crossing point, the high-level official was invited to the department of the border guard service "Uzhgorod", where she saw the service and living conditions of the military personnel, as well as weapons, automobile and special equipment. It should be noted that Mrs. Klimpush-Tsintsadze was impressed by the high level of professionalism of the border guards, as well as the working and living conditions of the military personnel at the department.
