The trial on the accident in Uzhgorod committed by a drunken ex police officer was postponed

Today, the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region considered the appeal of a former traffic police officer Fedir H. This former police officer, while being intoxicated, committed an accident on July 21 in the city of Uzhgorod. The car, that he was driving, ran into the fence of a kindergarten. The test showed 2.5 ppm of alcohol in the driver’s blood. For committing an accident while being intoxicated, the officer was fired, and Uzhgorod City and District Court, by its decision of August 10, found him guilty of the "drunken" accident and revoked his driving license for 2 years.

The former police officer is now contesting this judgment in the Court of Appeal in Transcarpathian region. During today’s hearing, Fedir H. said that he was not driving that night and therefore demands to cancel the decision of Uzhgorod court. Instead, patrol policemen testified in court that it was citizen H. driving the car "Skoda Super B" at the time of the accident. In addition, he was drunk and violating public order, interfering with police work and legitimate journalism activity.

After hearing the parties’ arguments, Judge Fedir Votkanych postponed the consideration of the case for 14.00 on the 14th of September, to hear other witnesses of the incident on July 21 mentioned in the report of the patrol policemen.

We will inform about the new hearing of the high profile case later.
