The Transcarpathian Regional Council has adopted a Prospective Plan for the Formation of United Territorial Communities

Deputies of the Regional Council by 37 votes approved the prospective plan for the formation of the united territorial communities of Transcarpathian region as a whole, without changes.

The approved plan provides for 59 unitied communities in the region. The next step is to be taken by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development. The lack of prospective plan in Transcarpathian region impeded the decentralization and receiving funds for community development. Therefore, many people consider today’s session of the Transcarpathian Regional Council to be historic. In the morning, before the building of the regional council, the deputies were met by the residents of Kholmok and the neighboring villages, who oppose the formation of the united community with the regional center.

The adopted prospective plan does not provide for the accession of the neighboring village communities to Uzhgorod, the regional center there is referred to as a separate unit. However, the plan is just a strategic document, and communities can decide how to form united communities in the future.
