The State Employment Service plans to reduce the maximum period of registration as unemployed to 4 months from the current 6 months or more.
This was announced at the press conference in Kyiv by the head of the Service Marina Lazebna, the "UNIAN" reported.
"We want to reduce this period (of being registered – Ed.), bring it to maximum of four months or 120 days," – Lazebna said.
She also added that in the regions they are gradually coming to such figure.
"Today almost all regions are gradually coming to this indicator. There are only two regions where I see the necessity of doing some more work – those are Kirovohrad region and the city of Sevastopol", – Lazebna said.
Earlier, the Minister of Social Policy Nataliya Korolevska said that it is unacceptable that in Ukraine the average period of being registered as unemployed at employment agencies is 190 days or more.
The number of unemployed persons in Ukraine in August totaled 435,400 persons vs. 451,500 in July. This is about 1.6% of the total working-age population of Ukraine – the "Ukrainska Pravda" reported.
