The press center of the Security Service of Ukraine reported that during searches in the houses and cars "Lexus", "Mercedes-Benz Gelandwagen", "BMW" and "Toyota" belonging to the criminals, law enforcement officers seized pistols, a hunting carbine, a rifle, ammunition of different caliber, cell phones and other evidence of illegal activity.
Thus, during the special operation, law enforcement officers exposed an organized group specializing in extortion of money from representatives of legal business.
The secret service informed that the group was headed by a resident of Mukachevo, who had previously been convicted several times for committing grave and particularly grave crimes. The criminals imposed "tax" on local entrepreneurs. In addition, by creating artificial conflict situations, the racketeers made businessmen pay large sums of money.
If the money was not paid, the criminals would set fire to the citizens’ cars. Also they fired at the victims’ retail outlets with grenade launchers.
As a result, the leader of the organized group was detained. He has already been notified of being suspected of committing crimes under Part 1 of Art. 263 (unlawful handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) and Part 2 of Art. 194 (deliberate destruction or damage to another person’s property by arson, explosion or other generally dangerous way) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
