An Austrian cemetery of the World War I period was found near Rakhiv, at the foot of the Goverla. Since it is located away from tourist trails, not many people know about this place…
The place is really impressive. It is known that several years ago, Scouts cleaned there. And now the cemetery looks well manicured, but it is noticable that people rarely come here.
Almost all Austrian soldiers were buried at the cemetery on the same day – August 30, 1916. Those days, fierce battles between the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires took place in the Carpathians. The killed soldiers were young – 20-22 years.
