The Pechersk court in Kyiv will announce the verdict to one of the candidates for the mayor of Uzhgorod

The proceeding against one of the candidates for the mayor of Uzhgorod – Eduard Leonov who is charged with organizing mass disturbances – is ongoing.

He was arrested in Kyiv after the events of July 31 near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Today, at 11 am, Kyiv Pechersk District Court will announce the decision on pre-trial restraint for the ex-MP from the "Svoboda". This was reported by the investigating judge Natalia Vasilyeva, the correspondent of the UNN informed.

During the consideration of the request, a number of people’s deputies appealed to the court that they were willing to accept bail for E.Leonov.

Meanwhile, the prosecutors asked the court to impose detention on E.Leonov. However, the defense and the suspect himself strongly objected to it. E.Leonov called the prosecutor’s request for his arrest "contempt of court".

Recall that Eduard Leonov, a representative of the "Svoboda", was the first candidate to announce his intention to run for the mayor of Uzhgorod. He moved to the region from the Crimea, where he had lived until the annexation, and headed the Transcarpathian organization of his political party.
