The Parliament appointed Stepan Poltorak as the Defense Minister.
Thus, the Parliament supported the nomination by the President Poroshenko.
245 deputies voted for this.
By another vote, the Verkhovna Rada approved the resignation of Valeriy Heletey from the post of Defense Minister – 293 deputies.
After the vote, Poltorak made the oath of allegiance to the people of Ukraine.
Poltorak noted that he had clear understanding of what he has to do in his new position.
"Ukraine needs peace. Modern, well-trained, mobile and well-equipped armed forces of Ukraine will be the guarantor of peace", – he said.
