Citizens, who have made a significant contribution to the development of Uzhgorod or Transcarpathian region, will be awarded with the honorary Order of Maria Theresa. The award is founded in honor of the Empress, who played a prominent role in the history of Uzhgorod and claims to be a symbol of its renaissance.
The Order of Maria Theresa will be awarded to prominent figures of the region annually. The first ceremony will be held in April-May this year in the square of Maria Theresa in front of the Cathedral opened in January 2015
The name of the person, who will receive the honorary award, so far is unknown. The winner will be chosen from among five nominees.
