The One Who Rushed to Live. Notes from the exhibition

Today, in Uzhgorod, an exhibition opened in the Regional Art Museum. An unusual one – both interesting and… sad. Retrospective. In Memoriam.

In the exhibition halls, the visitors can see the works of Uzhgorod artist Istvan Molnar. Sad, because today Istvan would have turned 50 years old. But he did not. He passed away back in 1993. Interesting, because during the 25 years of his life, Istvan shone very brightly, and his paintings show this.

The artist’s sister, Ildika Molnar, who was opening the exhibition, admitted that she did not expect so many guests, especially creative youth, many of whom were not even born when the illness took the life of her brother.

Many interesting things were told about Istvan – memories of his classmates at the Art College and Lviv Institute of Applied Arts, friends, like-minded people, artists of other generations. Istvan Molnar was a bright representative of the incredibly creative young people, who lived at the turn of the 80’s and 90’s. It was then when rock’n’roll came here and brought Freedom. It was this freedom that created the artist Molnar. And not just the artist – the people of Uzhgorod remember the legendary rock band "St. Pauli Guys" in which Istvan played solo guitar.

Istvan was rushing to live, as if he knew that he did not have a lot of time, and therefore he had to leave good memories behind. And he succeeded. Be sure to come to the Art Museum and see it with your own eyes.
