In Ukraine, for the last two or three weeks an attempt to "shake" the exchange rate have been observed. There were no reasons for the fluctuations of the dollar rate.
This was announced today during the telephone conference by the chairman of the committee of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) against unscrupulous foreign exchange Yuri Horshkov.
"Too often, currency speculators have intervened in the foreign exchange market … During the last two or three weeks, there was another attempt to shake the rate and currency market … There were unexplained currency forecasts. As a result, we have seen a plummeting of the rate by 15-odd kopiykas … Ordinary citizens lost their money" – said Horshkov.
According to him, the National Bank is going to provide for harsher penalties for currency speculators.
He said that they are preparing some legislative "surprises" for speculators, but refused to announce them.
