Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Lubomír Zaorálek, together with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic in Ukraine Ivan Počuch, the head of Ukrainian-Czech Charitable Foundation "Viza", member of the Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, the manager of the regional council executive staff Mykhailo Popovich visited in Uzhgorod the jubilee Masaryk’s school – №3, where classes for the study of Czech as a second language were opened.
Its director Svitlana Fesenko said that this school had been built over 80 years ago at the expense of the government of Czechoslovakia. From 1935 to 1938 it was a high school, named after the first Czechoslovak president TG Masaryk. The school was repaired in cooperation with the Czech region of Vysocina. This year, the roof was repaired and the façade was renovated. The writing on the school was also restored – Jubilejní škola Masarykova, because it is the so-called Jubilee Masaryk’s School. The work was funded from the regional and city budgets and with the financial support of the Czech Vysocina.
In gratitude, 5-6 grade students welcomed the distinguished guests in Czech and presented children’s handmade gifts. In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs gave the school textbooks.
Foreign guests also visited UzhNU, where the department of the Czech language was opened, the room of Ukrainian-Czech cooperation was equipped with the assistance of the Vysocina region. Here they were welcomed by the Acting Vice-Rector on scientific and pedagogical work and international relations Miroslava Lendyel. In the hall of the administration building, students and teachers were waiting for him, it’s not every day when you can hear the minister, talk to him.
The Minister gave a lecture about the first president of Czechoslovakia, TG Masaryk.
In conclusion, attendees had an opportunity to ask Lubomír Zaorálek questions and receive sincere, qualified answers.
