There is a whole mineral valley in the village of Uzhok that is located at Velykyi Bereznyi. It is because of the mineral spring in its bowels. They scoop water from a small borehole with help of the 39-meter glass bottle. Even the dandelions ‘mineralized’ near the river Uzh.
The Transcarpathian river Uzhok was well-known throughout the Europe at the beginning of the twentieth century. The locals say that the Polish Professor P. Lutskyi and rich Jew Rod built at the Kvasnyi Stream the whole Sanatoria and health resorts at that time.
The stream was named ‘Kvasnyi’, because water leaks with the bitter taste on its both banks. The sanatorium itself was called ‘Trydtsiatka’ (‘Thirty’): there were 30 rooms for holidaymakers. The Uzhok mineral spring treated serious diseases, notably the musculoskeletal system. The water was heated in vats on the open fire for this purpose. According to the chemical structure the local mineral water is defined as carbonaceous hydro-carbonate-calcium-sodium, which contains a lot of magnesium, iron and barium. In general there are 13 mineral springs, 7 of which are explored in the Transcarpathian Uzhok. Locals say that the can determine even the weather on the water. It will be sunny if it tastes spicy, it will be rainy it is soft.
