The militarist priest was expelled (PHOTOS)

The media published photos of the Bishop of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia Cyril which show that while being in the ATO area he, wearing priest garments and epitrahil, was holding weapons (a machine gun and an artillery shell).

According to explanation of Bishop Cyril published by the media, he allegedly "became a soldier of Christ" and "personally "sent" Putin’s bastards some shells as a punishment for the occupation of Ukrainian land."

Those actions of Bishop Cyril are gross violation of canonical rules prohibiting clergy to take deadly weapons. If a priest commits even an unintentional murder, he shall be banned from ministry or defrocked.

Also those actions of Bishop Cyril discredit the Church, sow temptation and can be used by enemies of the Kyiv Patriarchate and Ukraine with the provocative purpose.

In this regard, on December 26, 2014. The Holy Synod, given the urgency of the case, having held a voice conference meeting decided to ban the Bishop of Uzhgorod and Transcarpathia Cyril from ministry until repentance. Interim management of Transcarpathian diocese was entrusted to the Metropolitan of Ivano-Frankivsk and Galicia Joasaph.

The Synod emphasized that the clergy, that is bishops, priests and deacons, may stay among soldiers only as a military priests (chaplains) to provide spiritual and charity material assistance. Direct participation in hostilities and use of deadly weapons is prohibited, the official website of the UOC-KP informed.
