The mayor’s office decided on the new fare in Uzhgorod buses

However, officials have not disclosed the new figures. This was announced today during the meeting of the transport committee of Uzhgorod City Council by the Deputy Mayor Yaroslav Shafar.

"Representatives of the carriers appealed to City Hall with a proposition to revise the tariffs. Now, we have 5 packages of propositions and they are being checked by experts. This is the second time in my memory, when the tariffs are revised. And every time, there is a different approach to calculation of cost. It is unclear how carriers calculate the cost of traransportation at 15% return," – Shafar said.

The official said in particular he did not like the way the passenger traffic is calculated.

"Now, every day experts go and count the number of passengers. The figures reliable, but they are strange. Not only for us, but for the carriers too. There are times, when there are a lot of people on buses, there are times, when they are half-empty. The critical situation with sudden uncontrolled exchange rate and the cost of fuel and lubricants caused panic among carriers and among passengers. The number of passengers, especially in rush hour, increased and the number of buses decreased, because carriers stopped using diesel buses. and this led to tension," – Shafar said.

The official said that the hard work on calculations is being done at the City Hall:

"The submitted documents are being checked. We have many carriers, therefore there are a lot of documents. The first meeting on tariffs will be held on next Tuesday, and then the first figures and the prices recommend by the City Council will be announced. We already have figures, but I can not disclose them because they are still very different. Also, there are some unresolved issues because one or two carrier incorporated the upgrade of the bus fleet in the cost."

After that, the relevant public hearing will be held the mayor’s office, where anyone will be able to participate in the discussion of the issues related to the increase in bus fares in the city.
