Social networks are spreading concerns about the fate of the Nevytsky castle ruins – Uzhgorod district tourist facility and favorite place for romantic walks.
Photographer Serhiy Denisenko sent the first "signal", "Yesterday, we were in the Nevytsky castle. I do not want to croak disaster, but it seems that the tower roof is going to collapse very soon. It is lamentable." What should we do? – he asks.
TV presenter Mykhailo Dankanych echos Serhiy. He says:
"I was at the Castle a few months ago and it was already evident that the beams can not hold, and some had just fallen off. If there is a lot of snow in the winter, the roof will have collapsed by spring.
The only way out of the situation, as I see it, is that the village authorities in cooperation with NGOs should appeal to the European funds that could help with funding for restoration work.
We need to save the Nevytsky Castle, I suggest to establish some kind of a working group of experts, government representatives and other concerned Transcarpathians."
Meanwhile, teacher of UzhNU Oleksandr Koval also raises alarm. He invites all concerned people to gather ideas and suggestions to save the Nevytsky castle at least in its present form. To this end, he created a thematic event on facebook. And he suggests to at least initiate a session of the regional council on this issue.
Meanwhile, long-time fighter for a better future of Nevytsky castle ruins, historian and archaeologist Oleksandr Dzembas commented on the situation with the tower more than succinctly: "I’m surprised it has not collapsed yet!".
Uzhgorod.in, in turn, encourages the community to express their views and contribute to the salvation of the picturesque place.
Meanwhile. let’s enjoy autumn photographs of our beloved castle by Serhiy Denisenko.
