The intergovernmental agreement between Hungary and Ukraine on the opening of new crossing points signed in March 2013 has been disrupted by the Ukrainian party. Three new checkpoints – Velyka Palad-Nagyhódos, Badalovo-Tiszakóród, and Salovka-Tiszaszentmárton – were to have been opened in Transcarpathia by December last year.
To date, one of the checkpoints on the Hungarian side is prepared. Thus, at the checkpoint Nagyhódos – Velyka Palad on the Hungarian side, the road from the village of Nagyhódos to the border has already been built and the reconstruction of the bridge has been completed.
The Ukrainian party has to build the road in length of 11.5 kilometers which costs UAH 70 million.
Due to lack of funding for the project, the construction of the road has not yet started. As for the other two checkpoints, they do not plan to build them yet.
