The head of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Vasyl Hubal on Thursday, February 26, held a meeting in Mukachevo – the home station of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade – with the management of the military formation. In addition to the command of the unit, the meeting was attended by deputy of Ukraine Victor Baloha, the Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko, Mukachevo Mayor Zoltan Lendyel, the head of the Regional State Administration Health Care Department Vasyl Skryp, the chief doctor of the Mukachevo military hospital Yarema Becker and others.
At the beginning of meeting Victor Baloha presented the brigade commander, Hero of Ukraine, Colonel Serhiy Shaptala an ancient icon depicting St. George with gratitude for the service, for saving lives of soldiers and wished him further victories. Then, they discussed specific matters of support for the soldiers who have returned or will return from the ATO. First, they talked about housing for families of the soldiers – since no funds for this purpose from the state budget have been allocated, they are trying to resolve this issue at the level of city councils. They have been instructed to seek their own reserves, free houses and buildings that are suitable for reconstruction into residential facilities, to provide funds and so on. Vasyl Hubal said that he was waiting from the commanders updated lists of families who need improvement the housing conditions.
After that, they discussed the coordination of activities to help the wounded – treatment and rehabilitation. At previous meetings, they have already discussed the cooperation of the military hospital and regional hospitals, relevant services will keep it under control. Also, it is necessary to prepare the list of people who need treatment abroad, by the way, neighbor countries are ready to help Ukrainian soldiers – to take them for treatment and rehabilitation.
The participants also discussed the mechanism of providing free catering for children of the ATO participants in schools and kindergartens – some cities have already started providing it, this practice should be spread, and appropriate funds should be provided in local budgets.
As for the free education for children of the ATO participants at the Transcarpathian universities, the appropriate regional program will be developed, while commanders will prepare list of students who need this kind of assistance.
The Chairman of the Transcarpathian Regional Council Volodymyr Chubirko took the issues associated with the programs of the regional council under his personal control. The head of the RSA Vasyl Hubal, summarizing the meeting, said that support for the soldiers – ATO participants and their families is now one of the priorities of the regional authorities and all matters relating to the combatants’ needs and rights should be addressed first.
