The first victim of summer recreation in Uzhgorod

During school summer holidays, risks associated with children’s activities on the water significantly increase. After all, having a lot of free time, young people almost every day go to the river. And often such leisure ends tragically. In particular, such incident happened on June 1 in Uzhgorod.

At 18:10, the Rescue Service "101", received a report of a possible drowning of a 12-year-old boy in the Uzh river. The incident happened near Zahorska street. As it turned out, the teenager went to the river with friends. The boys decided to wade it, because the water level there reached only to the waist. But, the boy slipped into a concavity and disappeared. Frightened friends ran home and told their parents who called rescuers.

Divers of the special purpose emergency rescue squad were sent to the scene. At 20:30, divers found the body of the boy. As it turned out, he was carried 100 meters downstream the spot where teenagers were swimming. Rescuers handed the body over to law enforcement officers that are currently establishing detailed circumstances of the tragic event.

Dear parents! Take care of the safety of your children, especially in the summer. If you stay with kids near the river, in no way allow them to swim alone. And before letting teenage children go play with friends near a body of water, warn them of all possible dangers. Otherwise, the likelihood of fatal consequence increases.
