On the penultimate day of summer, the youngest representative of the well-known Transcarpathian art family, a distinctive and already recognized artist, winner of the European Portrait Contest, organized by UNESCO in Paris in 2016, Petro Svalyavchyk opened the first "Professional Children’s Art Studio" in Uzhgorod.
In total, more than 30 children were enrolled to two age groups of 6-10 and 11-15 years old. The main purpose of the school-studio is to give children an opportunity to develop and realize their creative talents and imagination. As there is only one art school in Uzhgorod that cannot take everyone, the demand for such an institution is obvious.
Classes in the studio will be held twice a week in after school hours according to a program developed and implemented by experts from the Italian city of Florence. Mr Petro told us that that city – the birthplace of the Renaissance – inspires him creatively and he regularly visits it.
P. Svalyavchyk’s studio will provide its students with all the necessary high-quality supplies made in Germany. In addition to art classes, they plan to organize an English-language day to study the specific terms of fine arts.
The deputy mayor Oleksandr Bilak, art teacher Emma Levadska, People’s artist of Ukraine Vasyl Svalyavchyk and others congratulated and assured in their support for the new art and educational center in Uzhgorod.
